Gum disease is an inflammation of the gum line that can progress to affect the bone that surrounds and supports your teeth. The three stages of gum disease – from least to most severe – are gingivitis, periodontitis and advanced periodontitis.
Gum disease can be painless, so it is important to be aware of the symptoms of gum disease as they might be the only indication of a problem.
If you have swollen, red, tender or bleeding gums, gums that recede or move away from the tooth, persistently bad breath or a bad taste in your mouth, loose teeth or visible pus surrounding the teeth and gums, you will need to schedule an appointment as soon as possible.
The sooner we can examine your teeth, the sooner we can provide a solution to prevent further damage to your teeth and mouth.
