Inlays & Onlays
Are they right for you?
What is it?
Dental inlays/onlays are very similar to fillings and are typically made out of porcelain or composite materials, and sometimes precious metals like gold. It’s called an ‘indirect restoration’ because dental impressions or digital scans need to be taken in order to send them to a laboratory or milling machine where they will be made.
When to use it?
When the cavity is too large for a filling, but not so much that a crown is necessary, a dental inlay/onlay is recommended.
